Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is content with the rushers on his roster despite missing out on Dalvin Cook.

"I'm very happy with our running back group," McDaniel said, according to Kevin Patra of NFL Network. "There's been a ton of development since camp started for already talented guys that I very much believe in. So overall, I'm really pumped with the running back group."

Cook signed a one-year deal with the New York Jets earlier this week worth up to $8.6 million. The Dolphins negotiated with Cook but never got close to the contract he signed, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.

Miami ranked 27th in rushing yards per game last season and is bringing back the same group in 2023 with one addition. The club re-signed Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, Salvon Ahmed, and Myles Gaskin and drafted De'Von Achane in the third round.

Achane tallied 1,298 scrimmage yards in his final season at Texas A&M and ran a 4.32 40-yard dash at the NFL combine.

Mostert led the team with 891 rushing yards last campaign but missed Miami's wild-card game against the Buffalo Bills with a thumb injury. Wilson was the Dolphins' rushing leader in their lone 2022 playoff contest, carrying the ball 10 times for 23 yards and one touchdown.

Miami kicks off its season Sept. 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
