Temperature sensors on AMD Opteron 2378
by tauka_usanake from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6E233)
I am continuing my adventure in Slackware and trying to get a system running. After somehow bricking my install twice, both in different ways, I've decided to try and tackle one issue at a time than try and configure everything at once. One issue is trying to get temperature readings off my CPUs (yes, plural). I'm running a Tyan S8212WGM3NR motherboard with two AMD Opteron 2378s in it. Having a clean install of Slackware to work with, all `sensors` picks up is my Quadro GPU. `sensors-detect` doesn't find anything extra and with some research I learned that 'k8temp' kernel module would be what I should load to get it to pick up. I did `modprobe k8temp` and ran `sensors-detect` again, but still can't get CPU temps. I feel like I'm missing something that I'm unaware of. Is there any advice on what I'm not doing or could be doing wrong?
