Cloning, EFI boot

Hi,

I have a desktop running a Slackware 15 set up and configured as needed. EFI boot, works well. Has three partitions: 1. 100 MB efi, 2. 8 GB swap, 3. cca. 248 GB (the rest of a 256 GB SSD).

I need to clone this machine to 30 others (university comp. lab.). In the past I did cloning and worked well and efficiently. Now there are problems and I think it is because of the efi booting because last time there was lilo on the machines.

Firstly I checked the partition boundaries. Then I wrote all the sectors from the beginning to the end of the first partition to a file with dd. Then I wrote these sectors to the beginning of the SSD of the test machine. Checked: parted lists the same as on the original machine (including the boot flag), I can mount the 1st partition, can see the content that seems to be the same as the original.

In the CMOS/BIOS the efi boot is selected, works well with a usb stick but when I try to boot from the SSD it says that cannot find an operating system.

What is wrong, where did I the mistake(s)?

Thx,
KEA.
