Do Young People Really Rage against the Machine?

Socialism and leftism are undoubtedly popular with my generation. But it's worth asking, have these ideologies organically come from new eyes seeing the injustices of the world and wanting to rebel against an oppressive system, or is there another explanation of why these beliefs have become so popular?
