Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Brandin Cooks is dealing with a sprained MCL, and his status for Sunday's game against the New York Jets is in doubt, David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports.

Cooks has a Grade 1 sprain, which isn't considered a multi-week knee injury, adds Moore.

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that the wideout "has a chance" to play in Week 2, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Cooks also maintained a positive outlook for Sunday.

"I'm just working, and we'll see where we're at," he said. "I feel good."

Cooks was seen working to the side with the rehab team during Thursday's practice.

The 29-year-old was the key offseason addition to a Cowboys offense looking to add speed and a third threat at receiver alongside CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup.

Dallas acquired Cooks from the Houston Texans in March for a 2023 fifth-round pick and a 2024 sixth-rounder. He has six 1,000-yard campaigns in nine NFL seasons.
