RDP to linux server 20.04 gnome session closes other open windows
by tem.penlington from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6ERS2)
Hi Folks
I am new to linux so please forgive my ignorance here. I have managed to get rdp to a linux server ubuntu 20.04 working and uninstalled all non essential desktop apps needing only a terminal, file manager and firefox running. The thing is that when i open up a session it is very slow.
1) Is it possible to speed things up by removing the wallpaper from the desktop instead of it being sent through every time. Surely that will improve response. Is there a command i can type in to remove the wallpaper.
2) Are there any other things i can do to speed up the rdp. I have removed all other games, office, multimedia etc so it is bare bones.
Looking forward to a response. Thanks in advance.
