Washington Commanders defensive end Chase Young has been cleared to play and will be active in Week 2, the team announced Friday.

Young missed the club's Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals with a neck stinger that bothered the edge rusher through the end of the preseason.

The 24-year-old was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice before being a full participant Thursday and Friday.

Young missed the majority of the 2022 campaign after tearing his right ACL in 2021. He played in the team's final three games last year, registering five total tackles and one quarterback hit.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft has struggled to recreate the impact of his Defensive Rookie of the Year campaign. Young has just 1.5 sacks and three tackles for loss in the 12 games he's played over the last two seasons after posting 7.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss in 2020.

Young's 2023 debut will come against the Denver Broncos, who allowed two sacks and seven tackles for loss in a Week 1 defeat to the Las Vegas Raiders.
