Carolina Panthers rookie quarterback Bryce Young will miss some time with an ankle sprain, head coach Frank Reich said Friday, according to Nick Carboni of WCNC Charlotte.

"Doctors are saying one-to-two weeks," Reich clarified, according to David Newton of ESPN.

The Panthers announced Thursday that Young was unlikely to play against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday after he missed practice for a second straight day with an ankle ailment.

"I think Bryce has done well this week," Reich added. "I'm optimistic that he's on the right path. ... When he gets back and when he's cleared, he's our guy."

The No. 1 overall pick completed 59.2% of his passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns against two interceptions in his first two NFL appearances. Carolina traded up in April's draft to select the touted Alabama product.

The Panthers are coming off a Monday loss to the New Orleans Saints that dropped them to 0-2.

With Young sidelined, veteran Andy Dalton will be under center for Carolina.

"This guy (is) playing at a high level," Reich said of Dalton, according to Newton. "The way he's throwing the football, the way he works through progressions, the way he's playing the game ... Since Day 1 when he's walked through the door, I said he's starter-worthy."

After visiting the Seahawks, the Panthers host the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4.
