Mostert, Achane score 4 TDs each as Dolphins hang 70 in historic win vs. Broncos
The Miami Dolphins put on a show in their home opener Sunday against the Denver Broncos, who had no answers for Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, and Co.
Led by outstanding performances from running backs Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane, Miami beat Denver 70-20 at Hard Rock Stadium. Mostert and Achane each scored four touchdowns, including a 67-yard score from the latter that made Miami the first team to reach 70 points in a game since 1966.

The NFL single-game scoring record since the merger is 72 points, set by the then-Washington Redskins in 1966. The Dolphins had a chance to top that mark but opted to kneel on fourth down from Denver's 28-yard line instead of kicking a field goal.
Head coach Mike McDaniel said postgame that he bypassed the opportunity to set the NFL record because it didn't align with his views as a head coach.
"It felt like chasing points and chasing a record, that's not what we came to the game to do," McDaniel told reporters. "The message that I thought it would send wasn't really in line with how I view things."
The all-time scoring record belongs to the Chicago Bears, who got 73 points in a game in 1940.
Miami's offense finished Week 3 with 726 total yards, an NFL single-game record.
One of the Dolphins' best moments of the day came in the second quarter with a perfectly designed no-look shovel-pass touchdown from Tagovailoa to Achane.

Entering Sunday, the Dolphins' previous single-game high was 55 points, which they set against the St. Louis Cardinals in 1977.
Hill was unstoppable versus Denver, catching nine passes for 157 yards and one touchdown before the fourth quarter. He's now scored at least a TD in every game this season.
Tagovailoa finished the game with more touchdown passes (four) than incompletions (three), going 23-for-26 for 309 yards. In addition to his four touchdowns, Achane also racked up 233 scrimmage yards on 22 touches. Mostert had 142 total yards.
