USB not mounting. System says "Filesystem vfat not configured in kernel."

Issue: Can't mount USB drive. identified as /dev/sdd1 Error messages: "Can't find in /etc/fstab" and "File system vfat not configured in kernel." Sheesh! Was accepting drive for months prior to this.
