obs-studio records video, but not audio.

My operating system is Slackware 15.0,and I recently installed obs-studio 29.1.3 with the intention of preserving my videotape collection. I have my VCR connected to my desktop PC via a USB connection, and I have obs-studio set up to the point where I can watch said videotape in 'real time' with both auto and video, but after I record it, the file that I save it to contains the video - but not the audio. And nothing that I have tried changes that.
How do I go about resolving that issue?
