Plans to build a new desalination plant in south-east Queensland have been met with concern from experts and environmentalists who say the state should first be making full use of existing recycled water facilities.
On Tuesday, the premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, flagged plans to build a second desalination plant at Kawana on the Sunshine Coast by 2035 as part of a long-term strategy to guarantee the region's water security.
