Belichick reiterates Jones will remain starter: 'We're not making any changes'
Despite being benched in two straight games, Mac Jones will start Sunday's matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
"Yeah, we're not making any changes," New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday when asked if Jones would start, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.
Jones was yanked in the midst of blowout losses to the New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys over the last two weeks. New England went on to lose both of those games by a combined score of 72-3, dropping the club to 1-4 on the season.
Belichick defended Jones following the Saints loss, telling reporters that it wasn't all the quarterback's fault and that he would remain the starter.
The 25-year-old signal-caller and the rest of the Patriots' offense have been criticized heavily in response to the consecutive defeats. Jones threw for just 260 yards with zero touchdowns and four interceptions across the two contests, while the offense has committed six total turnovers.
The Patriots have the worst offensive output in the NFL, averaging a measly 11 points per game. New England is off to its first 1-4 start since 2000.
