Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is expected to miss four-to-eight weeks with a shoulder injury, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Richardson's return will depend on his rehab and whether he needs surgery to address the reported Grade 3 joint sprain in his throwing shoulder, Schefter adds.

The Colts officially placed the rookie on injured reserve Wednesday, knocking him out for at least four games.

The 21-year-old suffered the shoulder injury while being tackled on a designed quarterback run in the second quarter of Sunday's win over the Tennessee Titans. He laid on the ground after the play and immediately signaled to the sideline that his right shoulder was injured.

With Richardson sidelined, Gardner Minshew is set to be the Colts' starting quarterback. Minshew has completed just over 68% of his passes for two touchdowns and zero interceptions this season.

The Colts are slated to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 6. The matchup holds high stakes for the AFC South as both teams hold identical 3-2 records.
