Moving a SSD drive to another desktop question

My old HP desktop, the HP EliteDesk G1 SFF, has suffered a hardware failure.
I bought a used HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Mini Desktop from the auction site today that doesn't have a HD/SSD.
Is it possible to put the SSD drive from the broken computer straight into the new machine and expect it to boot? Or is it likely I'll have to initialize/reinstall the operating system in the new machine?
Thanks in advance!
