PC as Smartphone?

Although I may end up asking in a more general area, I'm starting here on Slackware as it is my preferred system. Hopefully someone here knows more than I do which should be easy because I'm very new to mobile phone technology and know very little.

This is probably an oddball request/question because I know so little on the subject of using a PC, whether x86 or ARM, as a smartphone, but here's why I'm seeking info. My ancient Thinkpad has a SIM card slot and used to make and receive calls via VOIP. I'm not sure but I think that since 3G was dropped my Thinkpad no longer can do that and anyway I haven't had success accessing that particular SIM card reader on Linux and I refuse to use Windows.

So here's my situation and desire. Almost never do I leave my home and when I rarely do I most often don't take my phone with me, so I care little about mobility. I have a working android phone with Calyx installed on it and a Verizon account as well as a Vonage account. (BTW Vonage is pretty good but no SMS is a downer). I have problems with the tiny phone screens and generally hate navigation on my Pixel5 phone. I guess I've been using PCs too long but I don't care for touchscreen and limited options at all and tiny screens just make that even worse.

So I'd prefer to be able to not just connect my phone as with KDE-Connect, which I do to (sometimes) transfer files, but actually use my PC(s) (any of them, x86 or ARM) as if it IS my phone but with a headset/speakers and keyboard and mouse navigation.

Any and all comments and assistance welcome. Is it possible preferably with Slackware?
