Why I’m Pessimistic about the Selection of the Speaker of the House

After Kevin McCarthy was ousted from the Speaker role, feuds began over who would be the next speaker. Many see the removal of McCarthy as an opportunity for positive change, but the incentives in politics give plenty of room for pessimism.
