Kelce entered Kansas City's game against the Miami Dolphins with 10,927 yards, just 13 yards shy of matching Gonzalez's record.
The 34-year-old reached 14 receiving yards on his third catch of the game to gain the milestone.
Kelce has played in 152 contests with the Chiefs since being selected with the No. 63 pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. He's earned eight Pro Bowl nods, four first-team All-Pro selections, and has won two Super Bowls over his career. Kelce was also named to the NFL's 2010s All-Decade Team.
Kelce broke the team record on his 871st career reception. He's scored 73 career touchdowns.
Gonzalez, a 14-time Pro Bowler and six-time first-team All-Pro, spent the first 12 seasons of his career with the Chiefs before joining the Atlanta Falcons in 2009. The former first-rounder finished his career with 15,127 yards and 111 touchdowns on 1,325 receptions. Those marks rank sixth, eighth, and third, respectively, in NFL history.
