Carroll 'concerned' about Geno Smith's turnover streak

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is worried about Geno Smith's recent run of turnover-filled games.

"Yeah, I am concerned about that," Carroll said Sunday after his team's 37-3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN.

Smith finished with 13 completions on 28 attempts for 157 yards with zero touchdowns and two turnovers. The Seahawks' offense was outgained 515-151 and only had six first downs.

The 32-year-old overthrew wide receiver Tyler Lockett early in the second quarter and fumbled three drives later, leading to a Ravens field goal right before halftime.

Smith now has at least two turnovers in three straight games.

"The one on the fumble, that's a pass-rush deal, Carroll said. "The interception, he threw it up and the guy that's been making the interceptions made another one. But that's not the direction for us to be going in. Up until this game, it took us to first place, whatever the heck we've been doing. And we didn't play like a first-place team today. With those kinds of turnovers, it's really hard to win."

Smith was under constant duress from Ravens defenders. He was pressured on 49% of his dropbacks Sunday, according to ESPN.

"It's tough," Smith said. "It sucks. We were looking forward to this matchup, and I just feel like we didn't play our best football today. Obviously, we made a ton of mistakes and a lot of things we need to correct."

The Seahawks will look to bounce back in Week 10 against the Washington Commanders.
