Hello everybody Openminded here. So openminded my brains leaked out. Sorry about the spill, I'll clean it up shortly.
I have installed Ubuntu, Mint, and Peppermint, on various computers over the years and then got away from Linux and stayed with Windows for several years until a couple of months back using my sons old Asus, he goes through computers real fast, usually I'm able to fix them.
This laptop I'm using now is one of my sons computers. It came from the store with windows 11 on it. I have clean installed Zorin on it. It is the first computer in Linux wherein I was able to install a printer driver and actually print with it! having said that I'm not too pleased with the Zorin app store. it can be real flaky.
The reason for this letter is not regarding the Zorin OS. The reason is Kali. The computer that I installed kali on is a Lenevo 2012 all in one A520 Ideacentre. this Ideacenter turned out to be a really bad idea! OK first of all as I am looking at the various available ISO's I choose the graphic install, It sounds pretty self explanatory to me but in the process of installing - it evinces several problems so its like the installer is saying to me: I can't download this so that over there is not going to work and further you won't have these options etc. when it is all said and done the only thing I have is a bash terminal entitled Kali. where's the graphics? I tried three times to install Kali before coming across somebody's response to these particular kali installation issues. every time it failed. it might have been 1 1/2 hours in each instance as far as time spent installing was concerned what was needed was a USB WiFi adapter that supports monitoring and package insertion, once that was obtained from Amazon. altogether about 13 dollars I stayed with it for maybe 3 hours after that In went to bed when I woke up I had the graphic install and to best of my ability which isn't saying much, I had no problems, at least that's what I thought. I updated it on several occasions and even installed kali whoami that is not a script that is a pgm. the problem now is my name in terminal is whatever it is followed by"Windows10-Enterprise-LTSC" and we get an error message with that same name followed by "name and service not known" I've clean installed altogether 4 times.
I'm thinking the problem would be coming from the UEFI/BIOS. You can enter there easily in Kali so for the first time since the install I did.
I get the following page Your PC Device is in need of repair and three options listed: 1 press enter to try again that doesn't work 2 f1 to enter recovery mode. I won't touch it at this time, I'm thinking this will return windows 10 or turn Kali into a kitten. 3 f8 for start up settings that doesn't work it remains where its at. and finally the other thing on this particular page that barricades me from UEFI/BIOS is the error code which is drum roll please:............ 0xc000000e BSOD! we need a eulogy. but on the other side of this funeral procession you would never know all this was going on. suggestions anybody?
