Bengals' Chase injures back vs. Bills: 'Got worse as the game went on'
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase sustained a back injury during his club's 24-18 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Chase said Monday the injury "got worse as the game went on" and that he's "pretty sore just moving around," according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic.
The 23-year-old didn't specify when he suffered the injury. However, Chase fell hard on his back after leaping for a deep ball midway through the third quarter. He was slow to return to his feet and appeared to receive treatment on the sideline following the drive.
Chase has until next Sunday to get healthy to avoid missing the Bengals' Week 10 contest against the Houston Texans. The LSU product said he's focused on supporting his teammates and returning to the field.
"Only thing I can do is get healthy for the team," Chase said, per Dehner.
Chase has picked up his production in recent weeks, topping 80 receiving yards in three of Cincinnati's last four games, including 192 yards in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals. His 697 yards, 64 receptions, and four receiving touchdowns lead the Bengals.
Trenton Irwin and sixth-round rookie Andrei Iosivas could see increased roles behind Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd if Chase misses time.
