Jets' Saleh won't bench Wilson, take play-calling duties off Hackett

The New York Jets' season continued to unravel in prime time with a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday night, but head coach Robert Saleh is still sticking by quarterback Zach Wilson and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

Saleh said Monday that Wilson will remain the team's starter and Hackett will keep play-calling duties despite the offense's woes and a 4-5 record.

"Nothing with the quarterback, nothing with the play-caller," said Saleh when asked about potential changes.

He added the team will instead look to make adjustments "schematically" and "find ways to feature more of the things our guys are comfortable with."

Saleh said he thought Wilson played well against the Raiders.

"It is hard to make changes just to make changes, to pacify something," he said, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.

Wilson threw a crucial red-zone interception with 1:14 left and the Jets trailing by four. New York got another chance to get a game-winning score after the Raiders punted, but its final drive, which included a failed Hail Mary attempt, fell short.

New York's per-game averages of 16 points and 179.2 passing yards both rank 30th in the NFL. The AFC East club has only exceeded 25 points in one game this season.

The Jets face a make-or-break two-game divisional stretch. They go on the road against the Buffalo Bills before hosting the Miami Dolphins.
