Saints bolster pass rush with Pierre-Paul signing

Two-time Super Bowl champion and three-time Pro Bowl pass-rusher Jason Pierre-Paul plans to sign with the New Orleans Saints, he confirmed to Josina Anderson of CBS Sports.

Pierre-Paul was in New Orleans for a workout with the team Monday. He will be joining the practice squad, a club spokesman told ESPN's Katherine Terrell.

The 34-year-old spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, where he started 13 games. Despite playing in 60% of the Ravens' defensive snaps, Pierre-Paul was limited to just three sacks, three quarterback hits, and five tackles for a loss.

Pierre-Paul previously spent four seasons, spanning from 2018-2021, playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He won his second Super Bowl with the Bucs at the conclusion of the 2020 campaign and recorded 12.5 sacks in 2018, his best season with the franchise.

A first-round pick in the 2010 draft, Pierre-Paul built his reputation as a dominant pass-rusher with the New York Giants. He won his first Super Bowl with the club in 2011 after recording a career-best 16.5 sacks.

The Saints have notched just 18 sacks through 10 games with no player recording more than 5.5 sacks. New Orleans sits at 5-5 but owns the top record in the NFC South.
