Installation error

Hello. I had a question about installing the Linux OS. I came to this forum to ask about how to get past it. So thank you.

So I installed Linux on one of my laptops. It was so amazing that I decided to go ahead and also put the Mint Cinammon OS on a second laptop. Only... that one glitches out when the OS was near the end of the install. Its kind off to describe but its like its half installed. It erased the previous windows OS, which I don't mind. I didn't have a lot of data on that laptop anyway so I'm not concerned with the loss. But where it was supposed to finish the installation using the USB program it ... hits like a hard drive error or something.

I went through the steps already to try to redo it with a clean operating system download. And same problems of it glitching out. I even tried a different USB stick and different program for the boot up and it still glitches out.

If there is a problem with errors on the hard drive, what can I do? Prior to this there was no visible warning that there was something up with that hard drive. I didn't have trouble with it. So it was ... it slipped in under the radar, from the previous windows thing. I don't want to throw away the laptop because it was working fine just before this happened.

Is the only way forward to do some kind of dual partition system? And if you do that, how do you tell which side of the partition the error is on, so that you can get around it without losing a ton of hard drive space?

Or is there a different suggestion?

The OS I was trying to install was Mint Cinammon. I've not very experienced with Linux so I was trying to stick with some of the newer user friendly options that are better for newbies. I'm not a coder either, so doing like a code thing probably wouldn't work for me. But my OTHER laptop the install worked just fine.

Anyway, I hoped for some feedback. Thanks.
