Sam Lafferty scored shorthanded during the Canucks' five-minute penalty kill with less than one second remaining in the second frame. The Canucks went on to win 3-1.
Calgary Flames forward Blake Coleman was fined $5,000 for slew-footing then-Winnipeg Jets forward Pierre-Luc Dubois last season. It was the only supplementary discipline handed out during the 2022-23 campaign for slew-footing.
Hoglander hadn't previously been fined or suspended in his 157-game NHL career.
