Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Washington Commanders plan to evaluate head coach Ron Rivera's position and the future of the front office after the season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The 4-7 Commanders reportedly want to avoid an in-season coaching change, as Rivera and new owner Josh Harris developed a strong relationship this season.

However, after losing to the injury-hit New York Giants last week, it's unclear whether a Thanksgiving loss to the Dallas Cowboys would change Harris' stance, adds Rapoport. That would give the club a 0-5 record within the NFC East and likely end Washington's playoff hopes.

Rivera hasn't produced a winning record since being hired by the Commanders in 2020. His four-year record stands at 26-34-1 entering Week 12, while his career mark is 102-97-2.

The 61-year-old had a successful nine-year stint with the Carolina Panthers, producing a 15-1 campaign and a Super Bowl appearance in 2015 and winning two Coach of the Year awards.
