Strange syslog entries should I be worried
by tuxthegreat from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6GN48)
After finally getting my permissions set up correctly on my syslog I noticed a few entries that were never there before. Now this is all happening after I updated my Ubuntu Mate to 16.04.7 ESM. The entries are as follows Code:tuxthegreat dbus-daemon[699]: Unknown username "gdm" in message bus configuration file ; tuxthegreat dbus-daemon[699]: Uknown username "geoclue" in message bus configuration file ; dbus-daemon[699]:message repeated 2 times: [ Uknown username "geoclue" in message bus configuration fileNow this is all new to me because I didn't update my Ubuntu mate 16.04 LTS except the kernel and a few apps which I keep up to date by compiling them, when I decided to do the whole ESM update I had a lot of problems with packages not doing what they are supposed to and I had to force version on a lot of them back to their original (Xenial-update) vs the (esm12 xenial-infra-security) It was a lot of networking packages and some python packages, but that;s all in the past and it's been dealth with, I no have this new issue that needs tending too. So guys can you help an old user get his sanity back and no more syslog messages ? Any help is appreciated, so thank you for reading my post and taking the time to respond to it. Tux.
