Accidentally trashed (& emptied) folder full of downloaded videos on macOS Monterey

I would like to unerase them. Again, trash has been emptied.
Tentatively, I plan on shutting the system down as soon as I write this to avoid accidental overwrites, and then boot into Linux, which I assume may have better unerase utilities than macOS.
This is the first time this has happened -- cuz I didn't have a backup.
