Report: Dolphins signing veteran pass-rusher Ingram
The Miami Dolphins are signing free-agent pass-rusher Melvin Ingram, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Ingram, 34, joins the Dolphins for the second time in as many seasons after spending his 2022 campaign in Miami. He reportedly worked out with the team on Tuesday.
Miami bolsters its defensive line with the addition of Ingram, who joins a pass-rushing group that features Bradley Chubb, Andrew Van Ginkel, and Jason Pierre-Paul. The unit lost Jaelan Phillips when he tore his Achilles and landed on season-ending injured reserve.
The Cleveland Browns showed interest in Ingram during the offseason, but the three-time Pro Bowler remained unsigned when the 2023-24 campaign began.
Ingram recorded 22 tackles, seven tackles for loss (TFL), and six sacks in 17 games during his first stint in Miami. The former 2012 first-round pick has recorded 81 TFLs and 57 sacks throughout his career. The South Carolina product began his NFL tenure with the Los Angeles Chargers, where he spent nine seasons. He also made brief stops with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs.
