Belichick dodges questions on Patriots future: 'Getting ready for' Chiefs
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick came up with a new catchphrase while dodging questions regarding his future with the team on Wednesday.
"Getting ready for Kansas City," Belichick said in a press conference when asked if he thinks the Patriots are preparing to part ways with him after the 2023 season. He then had the same answer for whether he has discussed his future with Patriots owner Robert Kraft.
The Patriots host the Chiefs on Sunday, a matchup that was flexed from Monday Night Football amid New England's struggles this year.

Have Belichick and Kraft discussed BB's future?

Belichick's comments come after Tom Curran of NBC Sports Boston reported that the Patriots aren't planning on keeping the 71-year-old beyond 2023.
"When they came out of Germany, conversations I had that week made it very clear that a decision was made, and they were going to play out the string and at the end of the year, there would be a parting of the ways for a variety of reasons," Curran recently said.
The Patriots lost 10-6 to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany in November.
Despite upsetting the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14, New England has struggled on both sides of the ball while having one of its worst seasons since naming Belichick the head coach in 2000. The Patriots have posted a 3-10 record, which would give them the No. 2 overall pick in next year's draft if the season ended today. The AFC East club hasn't picked in the top five since 1994.
One of the most respected coaches in history, Belichick won six of his eight Super Bowls on the sideline as New England's coach. Belichick's 301 career wins rank third all time in the NFL.
