Geno Smith is progressing after a groin injury forced the Seattle Seahawks' quarterback to miss last week's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

"I know it's a big concern to everybody, but he feels really good," head coach Pete Carroll said Thursday, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson. "He threw the heck out of the ball in the morning session, so we'll see what happens today with the hope that he's ready to go. And if not, Drew's going to be there."

The Seahawks plan to mix reps between Smith and Drew Lock in practice in order to ensure both quarterbacks are ready to play Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, Carroll added.

"(Smith) wants to play in the worst way," Carroll said.

Smith, who was injured in practice last week, has completed 64.9% of his passes for 15 touchdowns to nine interceptions. His return could help a Seahawks team that has lost four in a row and five of their last six games.

Lock completed 71% of his throws for two touchdowns and two picks in the 28-16 defeat to the 49ers.

Seattle (6-7) is on the outside of the NFC's playoff picture.
