Report: Patriots undecided on Belichick's future

The fate of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick isn't sealed with four games remaining in the regular season.

Team owner Robert Kraft has not come to a firm conclusion on what will happen next regarding New England's head coaching position, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

How New England finishes the season will play a factor in Belichick's future, per Rapoport.

The Patriots were rumored to be leaning toward not keeping the 71-year-old Belichick after the 2023 season. It was believed that New England made the decision to move on from the Super Bowl-winning coach following a 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in November.

The Patriots (3-10) are looking for back-to-back wins after taking down the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14 to end a five-game losing skid. A victory against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday would give New England two straight wins for the first time since Week 5 and 6 of its 2022 campaign.

While the outcome of the final leg of the season will play a role in the fate of Belichick, a final decision may not occur until well after the regular season.

Belichick shrugged off questions about his future with the organization this past week, opting to focus on New England's upcoming matchup.

"Getting ready for Kansas City," Belichick said.

Belichick has won six Super Bowls while at the helm of the Patriots and is third in league history with 301 victories.
