Where did all the good old stuff go?

I enjoy the historical aspects of Linux/Unix but I'm trying to compile a program I wrote in 2017 using basic xlib graphics and I might as well be on the wrong planet. I'm trying this in Debian 12 (Bookworm?)
I see undefined references to things like XFlush, XSetForeground, XDrawLine, XCreateWindow, I'm trying to figure out what to apt-get install that will define this stuff. I think it's cool that I started using computers in 1968 and built my first PC-clone in the 80s. Isn't there an oldlibs or something?
