HP EliteBook 745-G6 (US Qwerty) What is the proper keyboard/mouse pad setting ?

I have having issues with an HP Elitebook (NoteBook) 745 G6.
Keyboard is US default.
Issue #1 F3 does not work as expected in CAJA (etc..) to split the screen etc...
If the LED on Fn is ON (need asequence) then it works.
Issue #2 In some apps, the mouse pad, does not work well (ex in SMplayer)
For the HP EliteBook G6, than what should be exactly the Keyboard setting. (I have tried a few, no luck !)
