please recommend a USB network adapter for my Thinkpad T420

I'll have to buy a USB network adapter for my ThinkPad T420. I was trying to reconnect the internal network adapter's aux connector after noticing that it had come loose, and damaged the connector beyond repair. Ugh. The main connector is still connecting me to the network, but too weakly--the signal remains at about 45 percent. (I'm surprised it can't do better than that. Maybe because of how old it is?)
Anyway, I would prefer a USB adapter that is too small to flop around when plugged in; but I don't really care as long as it works in my Linux kernel.
I'm running kernel Linux 6.1.0-16-amd64 (x86_64). OS: MX 23, Debian Bookworm.
I don't care whether it's wireless-Ax or whatever the latest standard is called. Our router is fast enough for me, anyway...
