Commanders head coach Ron Rivera and his staff are "well aware" that Rivera's time with Washington is coming to an end, sources told The Athletic's Dianna Russini.

Washington is expected to perform an "exhaustive and comprehensive" search for Rivera's replacement under new majority owner Josh Harris, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Rivera, who turns 62 on Sunday, is in his fourth campaign with the club. He owns a 26-39-1 record with the team entering Week 18's clash with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Commanders are 4-12 entering the season finale and would secure the No. 2 overall pick with a loss to Dallas. Washington is still looking for a long-term answer at quarterback after starting 12 signal-callers since Kirk Cousins left after the 2017 campaign.

Rivera owns a 102-102-2 overall record across 13 campaigns with the Commanders and Carolina Panthers.
