Report: Seahawks request HC interview with Cowboys' Quinn, 5 others
The Seattle Seahawks kicked off their search for a new head coach on Monday, requesting interviews with multiple candidates.
Seattle asked to speak with Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, a source told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. In addition to Quinn, the Seahawks reportedly requested interviews with five other coordinators:
- Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith
- Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero
- New York Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka
- Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris
- Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham
These are the Seahawks' first publicly known interview requests. The team's been looking for a new head coach since it moved Pete Carroll into an advisor role on Jan. 10. The 72-year-old coached Seattle for 14 seasons, posting a 137-89-1 record and guiding the team to its first-ever Super Bowl title.
Carroll recently said he fought to remain the club's sideline boss before agreeing to step down following a 9-8 season in 2023.
Of the candidates on Seattle's short list so far, Quinn is the most notable. He's generated interest from multiple teams and has interviews scheduled this week with the Carolina Panthers, Tennessee Titans, Washington Commanders, and Los Angeles Chargers, according to Albert Breer of TheMMQB.
The 53-year-old Quinn has served as Dallas' defensive coordinator since 2021. He helped turn around a Cowboys defense that's ranked in the top 10 in points allowed in each of the last three seasons. However, Quinn and Co. suffered a 48-32 wild-card loss to the Green Bay Packers at home on Sunday.
Quinn served as the Atlanta Falcons' head coach from 2015-2020. He also previously spent time with Seattle as the team's defensive line coach from 2009-2010 and defensive coordinator between 2013-14.
