The Cleveland Browns are parting ways with offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, he told ESPN's Jake Trotter.

Running backs coach Stump Mitchell and tight ends coach T.C. McCartney were also dismissed, a source told CBS Sports' Josina Anderson.

All three assistants had been part of Kevin Stefanski's staff since 2020. The Browns head coach informed the trio that he wanted to change course, according to Anderson.

The 53-year-old Van Pelt could look to find a team that will offer a bigger role, as Stefanski handled the play-calling duties on game days.

Cleveland finished the regular season No. 10 in scoring offense (23.3 points per game) and No. 16 in total offense (335.9 ypg).

Injuries plagued the Browns for much of the campaign. Starting quarterback Deshaun Watson sustained a season-ending shoulder injury in November. However, Cleveland experienced a bounce-back after signing Joe Flacco, who led the team to a 4-1 record as a starter after signing.

The Browns overcame the injuries to clinch a playoff berth but lost to the Houston Texans in a lopsided affair Saturday.
