Booting Slackware on Intel RST

This isn't necessarily Slackware-specific but I have been trying the standard install set for 15.0 as well as Alienbob's most recent liveslak.

The machine in question is an HP 15s-fq4006na 64W23EA running an Intel Core i7.

It uses Intel RST, but the existing Windows installation appears badly corrupted to the extent it won't even boot from a Windows disc.

So I'm trying other methods to boot it, wipe the drive if need be. I was under the impression RST hasn't been well (if at all) supported by Linux (kernel or userspace tools) previously and most recommendations are to turn it off in the BIOS.

But this is not an option for this laptop - it can't be turned off (the current BIOS revision is F.32).

I just wondered if anyone had had success booting such a configuration with Slackware (or anything else for that matter). Just trying to avoid sending it back to the manufacturer.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
