Buffalo Sabres winger Jack Quinn is expected to miss eight weeks after undergoing surgery to address a lower-body injury, sources told The Buffalo News' Lance Lysowski.

Quinn suffered the ailment during Saturday's 5-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks. He had to be helped off the ice after being shoved into the boards by Sharks forward Tomas Hertl in the third period and was unable to return to the contest.

Quinn missed the first 32 games of the campaign after undergoing Achilles surgery in June. He made his season debut on Dec. 19 and racked up five goals and 12 points in 17 games before sustaining his latest injury.

This lower-body issue is unrelated to his previous Achilles injury, and there's no damage to his knee, per Lysowski. Under his current timeline, the 22-year-old may return in late March.

Quinn has totaled 20 goals and 51 points in 94 games as a Sabre. Buffalo selected him eighth overall in the 2020 NHL Draft.

The Sabres sit sixth in the Atlantic Division with a 22-23-4 record and are nine points out of a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
