After years of success as the Kansas City Chiefs' defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo is interested in once again becoming an NFL head coach.

"I would love another shot," Spagnuolo said Monday at Super Bowl Opening Night, according to Fox Sports' Ralph Vacchiano. "But I'm OK if we keep going to Super Bowls."

Spagnuolo amassed a 10-38 record during his lone stint as a full-time NFL head coach with the then-St. Louis Rams from 2009-2011. He also went 1-3 as the New York Giants' interim sideline boss in 2017.

However, he's widely viewed as one of the league's best defensive minds. Spagnuolo has fielded a top 12 scoring unit seven times and a top 11 yardage defense on five occasions, including this year with Kansas City. The Chiefs ranked second in both points (17.3) and yards (289.8) allowed per game in 2023. Yet he hasn't received much public interest for head coach vacancies.

Spagnuolo will look to earn his fourth Super Bowl ring when the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday. He's previously captured Lombardis with the Giants (XLII) and Chiefs (LIV and LVII).

Spagnuolo has been with K.C. since 2019. He's also served as a defensive coordinator with the Giants and New Orleans Saints.
