Assistance Needed with DaVinci Resolve
by enorbet from LinuxQuestions.org on (#6JJ2Z)
I've been wrestling with DaVinci Resolve for a long time now but now I actually need it. Initially it told me my FUSE setup was incomplete and wouldn't run the "installer". Free v17 finally ran right out of the box once Appimage worked with fuse but nothing I did would get it to display video or play audio, no matter in what format. However that is likely and hopefully unimportant now since v18 (Free) is now available.
Now the problem is still rather stage 1 - authentication. The graphic for the start process comes up but when it calls for policykit it fails to authenticate my actual root password and halts.
Is anyone familiar with policykit enough to aid me aunthenticating? or better, with DaVinci Resolve?
FWIW I've read that Resolve, although offering a Linux version, nevertheless assumes a RedHat ran into the old FUSE problem sort of linux. I got so desperate I actually installed Centos on an older PC and immediately ran into the old FUSE problem. I really don't like Centos much (still on a 3.x kernel and LOTS of restrictions - ie can't even build a custom kernel or at least is "unsupported") so I am very motivated to get it working properly on Slackware 15.
Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.
