Steam: "DX11 feature level 10.0 is required to run the engine"

When trying to run Days Gone in steam on Linux Mint mate 21.3 the banner for the game shows up on the screen together with this popup window message: "DX11 feature level 10.0 is required to run the engine". I'm using Proton Experimental and also tried one time with 8.0. I have tried using the override function in Wine for d3d11. My graphics card is Nvidia 880M GTX and I also updated the driver using the driver manager for this card.

Days Gone works fine in windows on the same computer
