I'm having difficulties trying to install guest additions on ubuntu virtualbox

Press Return to close this window... From what I've read my options seem to be to upgrade virtual box from 6.1.40 due to kernel conflict hindering guest additions install ? I have a number of other virtualbox os on it will these be affected?
