Offensive tackle Tyron Smith isn't considering retirement and wants to sign another contract with the Dallas Cowboys, sources told Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News.

Smith is set to become an unrestricted free agent when the new league year begins in March. He's one of the NFL's better offensive tackles when healthy, but injury issues have plagued him in recent years.

The 33-year-old hasn't played every game in a season since 2015. He has missed 23 contests over the last three years due to various ailments, including a hamstring tear suffered in training camp in 2022.

"This is clearly his best season that I have experienced with him since 2020," head coach Mike McCarthy said in January.

McCarthy added, "I think the fact that he's not going into the offseason with offseason surgeries is a plus. We'll continue to talk as we move forward."

Dallas drafted offensive lineman Tyler Smith in the first round in 2022. He has started 31 games for the Cowboys over the last two years and has thrived as an offensive guard. However, he was initially projected to be Tyron Smith's eventual replacement at left tackle.

Tyron Smith is the Cowboys' longest-tenured player. They selected him ninth overall in 2011, and he has secured five All-Pro selections over his career.
