fsck on mounted partition

Hello
I had to power down my machine, after a configuration change did render my x session unresponsive.
After the reboot, I did not catch any message relating to the drive. I was expecting that I would see any messages saying that the system went down unexpectedly, and that I should run fsck or something in those lines.
Is it possible to check for inconsistencies on the disk after the power down? Or can I assume that it is ok?
Probably it might be ok, but just wondering if there is some way to check the drive for any problems.
Regards
