US House passes temporary funding bill to avert government shutdown

Passage of bill comes after congressional leaders from both parties announced agreement on Wednesday

The House has passed a short-term funding bill, narrowly averting a partial government shutdown that would have taken place this weekend.

The bill passed with a 320-99 vote on Thursday afternoon. Among Republicans, 113 voted yes and 97 voted no. Meanwhile, 207 Democrats voted yes and 2 voted against it.
