New Jersey man pleads guilty to trying to bribe Bob Menendez with Mercedes

A New Jersey businessman pleaded guilty Friday to trying to bribe the US senator Bob Menendez.

Jose Uribe, who signed a deal to cooperate with prosecutors building a case against Menendez, entered the plea in Manhattan federal court in connection with seven charges, including conspiracy to commit bribery, honest services wire fraud, obstruction of justice and tax evasion. Prosecutors allege that he gave Menendez's wife a Mercedes-Benz.
