Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox announced his retirement Sunday.

"I gave everything I had to this team and to this city," Cox wrote. "I don't know what's next for me, but I do know that I'm forever grateful for my time here in Philadelphia and with the Eagles organization. Go Birds!"

Cox thanked franchise owner Jeffrey Lurie, general manager Howie Roseman, and longtime teammates Brandon Graham, Jason Kelce, and Lane Johnson, among others.

The Mississippi State product earned Pro Bowl honors six times, was named a first-team All-Pro in 2018, and claimed second-team All-Pro berths three times.

Cox spent his entire career with the Eagles after they selected him with the No. 12 pick in the 2012 draft. The 33-year-old racked up 519 total tackles (88 for loss), 70 sacks, and 16 forced fumbles in 188 games. He also had 14 fumble recoveries and scored three touchdowns. Cox's 70 quarterback takedowns rank fifth on the franchise's all-time leaderboard.

Recent first-rounders Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis will likely assume the majority of Cox's snaps in 2024. Carter played 51% of the team's defensive snaps as a rookie, while Davis was on the field for 45% of plays in 2023, both trailing Cox's 66% snap share.
