Report: Onwenu returning to Patriots on 3-year, $57M contract
The New England Patriots are re-signing offensive lineman Michael Onwenu to a three-year, $57-million deal that contains $38 million guaranteed, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The deal also includes a $22.5-million signing bonus, per Rapoport.
Onwenu was one of the Patriots' biggest free-agent priorities coming into the offseason after starting 15 games in 2023. A sixth-round pick in 2020, Onwenu has started 56 games across four seasons for New England.
The 26-year-old played predominately at right tackle last season but also has experience playing right guard and left guard.
In addition to re-signing Onwenu, the Patriots also reportedly signed running back Antonio Gibson and quarterback Jacoby Brissett on Monday. They released wide receiver DeVante Parker, too.
New England also re-signed tight end Hunter Henry and wide receiver Kendrick Bourne earlier this offseason, in addition to applying the transition tag to safety Kyle Dugger. Former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor was also signed.
